NAPESCO carries out its first acid stimulation job in deep well in west Kuwait
22/04/2006
The job was pumped using 1.5 CT to ensure effective mechanical diversion of the treatment. The productivity index before acid treatment being 1.88 and after stimulation 8.83
NAPESCO widened their scope of services performing a stimulation job in high pressure high temperature well (DF#1, 14000’ Deep well) using 20 % deep penetrating acid resulting in 4-1/2 fold increase in production. The job was pumped using 1.5” CT to ensure effective mechanical diversion of the treatment. The productivity index before acid treatment being 1.88 and after stimulation 8.83”.

This well was drilled and completed in Marrat in 1988. The well was perforated with TCP guns and was unloaded using diesel. The PLT recorded showed nearly half of the production is from the top most zone and some of the zones contributing little to none, therefore a thorough well bore cleanout and an acid stimulation of the near well bore to restore the production of the well.

The recommended design comprises of an acid pre-flush and the main treatment is comprised of 20% DEEP PENETRATING acid @ 100-150gal/ft of perforated interval and 5% self diverting acid @ 25gal/ft of the perforated interval. The self-diverting acid would allow diverting the acid flow from the more permeable, undamaged zone to the less permeable zone. For a uniform acid diversion the entire treatment would be carried out using CT.
